Goal and impact

Tilburg municipality deploys the algorithm to check whether the resident is who he says he is. This way, Tilburg municipality can give the best service to the right residents without making mistakes in this.

Considerations

The biometric data of the ID card, passport and driving licence are linked to the resident. Based on facial comparison, we get more certainty of the resident's identity. This prevents errors and possible identity fraud that can create unpleasant situations for residents

Human intervention

Providing municipal services is still always up to the official, the algorithm cannot approve anything itself. The algorithm is just a supporting software

Risk management

If the data are incorrect, residents are unable to authenticate themselves. Staff check the authenticity of documentation alongside the biometric identification method.
