textmetrics

Textmetrics is AI software that helps organisations check content for accessibility, readability and inclusiveness, among other things. In addition to a customised dashboard, the software provides real-time feedback on language use, tone and reading level, and supports users with the AI assistant to generate or rewrite texts using generative AI.

Responsible use

Goal and impact

The aim of Textmetrics is to help organisations write clear, accessible and inclusive texts. While writing, the tool provides tips on language use, tone and readability. In this way, texts become more understandable and connect better with the target audience. The impact is that citizens and businesses receive information that is clear and honest. This makes communication easier and prevents people from being shut out by difficult words or the wrong tone.

Considerations

Textmetrics was chosen because it works faster and more consistently than manual checking. It helps to avoid errors, jargon and biases in texts. This saves time and ensures better quality. Alternatives such as full manual writing or other AI tools have been considered, but these offer less grip on inclusivity and brand identity. Textmetrics combines AI with rules and guidelines, reducing the risk of wrong tone or discrimination. Ethically, its use is justified because the tool supports organisations in fair and understandable communication. The user remains responsible for the content and can always make adjustments.

Human intervention

Textmetrics works as a tool. The writer receives feedback and suggestions while typing, but decides for himself what to copy. So there is always human control. The tool does not make decisions and does not publish anything automatically. The user can edit, check and approve the text before it is

Risk management

There is no risk of automated decision-making and the algorithm has no impact on fundamental rights because the algorithm does not make decisions with legal consequences. It only proposes textual changes The user always does the final check whether the text is correctly worded and chooses to adopt the text suggestions.

Legal basis

Textmetrics is used to make communication accessible and inclusive. This is in line with legal obligations such as:

General Data Protection Regulation (AVG): this law protects personal data and requires organisations to handle data transparently.EU AI Act: this regulation sets requirements for the responsible use of AI, such as transparency, human oversight and the prevention of discrimination.EU Accessibility Act (EAA) and WCAG guidelines: these rules ensure that digital information is understandable and accessible to all, including people with disabilities. The aim of these laws is to protect citizens, ensure equal access to information and prevent the misuse of data

Elaboration on impact assessments

No impact tests, such as a DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment), were carried out because the algorithm does not process sensitive personal data. Textmetrics only analyses job postings and provides feedback on language use, tone and inclusiveness. The processing is limited to textual content and technical account data (such as e-mail address for login), so the risk of privacy impact is minimal. Therefore, a formal impact test is not necessary.

Operations

Data

Textmetrics processes only the text of job ads entered by the user. These texts are analysed for readability, inclusiveness and tone. No sensitive personal data is used when writing or analysing the texts.
