Goal and impact

Broken lamppost? A loose paving stone? Litter? Nuisance from people? Report it to the municipality of Waalwijk via the Fixi website or the Fixi app. Reports are divided into categories, such as: nuisance in the neighbourhood, public lighting or household waste.

Any person can make a report via Fixi. For this, you do not have to be a resident of the municipality. The person can make an anonymous report or leave contact details with the report. Reports are not placed on the public map unless the person making the report agrees to this when submitting the report. There are also categories that are never posted on Fixi's public map.

A notifier can add photos to the report. Fixi automatically checks whether the photos contain people or license plates. If so, Fixi makes the persons or license plates unrecognisable by blurring that part of the photo.

Considerations

In the report, the notifier provides information about what is going on. By adding a photo to the report, the municipality can more quickly see what the report is about. The photos may show persons or license plates. By automatically making persons and license plates unrecognisable, the privacy rights of the persons are safeguarded.

Human intervention

The municipality can see from photos on reports whether the persons and license plates in the photos have been made sufficiently unrecognisable. If the municipality sees that the photos have not been made sufficiently unrecognisable, we will notify the supplier.

Risk management

There are few risks in this algorithm for reporters. The algorithm recognises people or license plates in the photos in reports. Upon recognition, this information is rendered unrecognisable. There may be a risk that the algorithm unrecognises too much or too little. If the municipality detects this, the municipality notifies the Fixi supplier.

Operations

Data

Reporters have the choice of reporting anonymously or making a report with contact details.

A person making a report can leave their phone number and/or e-mail address if they wish. We then keep the reporter informed of the progress and we have the option to call him or her back. This information is not kept longer than necessary for this purpose and is not used by the algorithm.
