Safety region Amsterdam-Amstelland
About this organisation
The Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region (VrAA) uses the data of citizens and companies. With algorithms, we can do our work safer, smarter and faster. On this page, we would like to explain how the VrAA uses algorithms, why we use them and what for.
Through the algorithm register, we want to be open and transparent about for what purpose we use algorithms. We include algorithms in this register that directly or indirectly affect citizens or businesses. For example, algorithms that:
- advise on decision-making;
- make automatic decisions or selections about the provision of our services.
Laws and regulations
When we use data and algorithms, we comply with applicable laws and regulations. For example:
- the General Data Protection Regulation (AVG) to protect the privacy of citizens and businesses;
- the Government Information Security Baseline (BIO), which describes the standards and mandatory measures for the security of government information and information systems.
- the AI Regulation (AI Act) to ensure that AI systems used by organisations (within the EU) are secure and respect fundamental rights.
