Responsible use

Goal and impact

The virtual coach has been developed exclusively for councillors with the aim of improving their debating skills. Citizens and businesses do not come into contact with it. The system offers personalised and tailored advice to help councillors convey their views powerfully and debate effectively. The focus is on improving presentation, questioning and argumentation techniques, resulting in maximum impact at council meetings and other formal meetings.

Considerations

The virtual coach has been developed exclusively for councillors to improve their debating skills. Traditionally, councillors can participate in a debate training course held once every four years, for example. In contrast, the virtual coach offers a more flexible alternative. Councillors who wish to do so can now regularly contact the virtual coach for personal and tailored advice. This enables them to convey their views powerfully and debate effectively, with improved presentation, questioning and argumentation techniques for maximum impact at formal meetings.

Human intervention

When using the virtual coach, outcomes are presented directly to councillors without the intervention of human control. This means that opinions and analyses are automatically generated by the system. However, to ensure the quality and reliability of the feedback, administrators have the option of randomly checking feedback. This ensures continuous improvement of the advice given to councillors.

Risk management

In the context of risk management, an important feature is built into the virtual coach: the ability to immediately disable the system. This emergency measure ensures that, in case of undesirable situations or technical problems, access to the coach can be immediately terminated. This guarantees that the data and analyses are no longer available for viewing or use. Thanks to this security measure, the confidentiality and integrity of the information are protected, and potential risks can be effectively managed.

Technical design

The algorithm behind the virtual coach uses large language models to analyse and summarise transcripts of meetings and discussions. This technology enables the system to distil relevant information and generate targeted summaries that help councillors quickly grasp the essence of complex conversations. By harnessing the power of large language models, accurate and contextual insights are provided, enhancing the effectiveness of the learning process.
